Rumbaroo is a free tile game run by Scott Winkel. This page explains, in plain language, what the game keeps about you and why.
- You can play without an account. Guest stats stay on your device.
- Accounts are optional. They only exist to save your stats and put you on the leaderboard.
- No ads, no selling or sharing your data, no tracking or advertising cookies.
- You can delete your account from inside the game at any time.
Playing as a guest
Without an account, nothing about you is sent to us for solo games. Your settings (name, difficulty, sound, game speed) and your stats are kept in your browser’s local storage on your own device. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Online rooms
When you create or join a private room, our server keeps what the game needs to run: the room code, the name you typed for that room, your seat, the game itself (tiles, scores, the game log) and when each player was last connected, so the house can take over an empty seat. Your browser remembers the rooms you’re in so you can rejoin. Rooms close after 24 hours without activity. We don’t use old room data for anything, and it’s overwritten when the code is reused.
Optional accounts
If you choose to sign in, sign-in is handled by Clerk, our login provider. Depending on how you sign in, Clerk receives:
- Email sign-in: your email address.
- Google or Apple: the name and email address that Google or Apple share with us. Apple may give us a private relay address instead.
We keep a small profile for your account: an account ID, the display name you choose, which sign-in method you used, when you joined, your game stats, and a random device ID used to merge your guest stats into your account. Your display name and your results from online games appear on the public leaderboard. Your email is never shown to other players.
Where it’s stored
The game is hosted by Netlify. Account profiles, stats, the leaderboard and room data are stored in Netlify Blobs. Like most web hosts, Netlify may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. Login details are stored by Clerk.
Cookies
Rumbaroo doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies, or any analytics that follow you around the web. If you sign in, Clerk sets the cookies needed to keep you signed in. Guests get no cookies from us.
What we don’t do
- We don’t show ads.
- We don’t sell, rent or trade your information.
- We don’t send marketing email.
Deleting your data
Signed in? In the game, tap your name at the top of the setup screen to open your account, then choose Delete account. This removes your profile, your stats and your leaderboard entries, and asks Clerk to delete your login. Guest data can be removed by clearing your browser’s site data for rumbaroo.com. You can also email us and we’ll take care of it.
Kids
Rumbaroo is a family-friendly game. Accounts aren’t meant for children under 13. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
